About · why Drayfus exists
There's another way to find your next book.
Finding your next book is harder than it looks. Most of the time we stick to authors we already know, sagas we've started, the books everyone's talking about — or we chase a recommendation we read online. And to be sure, we read the reviews, or we trust the little row of stars.
But how many times have you loved a book that barely scraped three stars?
Ratings belong to someone else
That's the thing about ratings — they're somebody else's. A book can find you at exactly the right moment and knock you flat, while it leaves the next reader cold. The feeling isn't in the stars. It's in the meeting.
So at Drayfus we don't do scores. No stars, no subjective reviews, no “8.4 out of 10”. We think there's another way to find your next read — through the people who've already read it.
Here, readers build stacks
Here, every reader builds stacks of books that belong together. Books whose story unfolds across decades. Books about redemption. Books that are just a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. But also — books with protagonists who wear glasses, books with characters who aren't quite right in the head, books that are brutally hard to get through. The possibilities don't end.
Reading alone, together
Make your stacks and share them. Or open one up and let other readers drop in their own favorites. Because reading is something you do alone — with a social streak. We all love to talk about what we're reading, to share our taste, to find the next one.
